13 December 2006 - 15:01The End of Fedora?

Not sure how to read this.

The end of Fedora? What about the projects?

Updated. See Gavin's comment. I apparently missed the point.

one comment:

Hi Marty,
You’ve got yourself mixed up. It’s the “Fedora Legacy Project” that is getting closed down. Originally (looks like the support cycle is increasing from 9 to 12 months now), Fedora Core versions were supported for 9 months only. After those 9 months, support of that version transfers to the “Fedora Legacy Project”, and they continue to provide updates etc. for it.
That post is merely saying, “It’s now too much work, with not enough people”. Mainly due to volunteers helping with the CentOS Project now.
So to combat this, the “Fedora Project” will increase the support cycle to 12 months.
Not much of a problem, just means you need to upgrade once a year.
Thanks,
Gavin.
