This is a bit scary to me as it implies that Solaris LDAP auth via OpenLDAP is not possible without this hackery? Do I have that right?

@Jeff: Not really, I only linked to it so that people had a starting point. You might take a look at Symas’s “Unified User Management” packages of pam_ldap() and nss_ldap() in which we deal with all this for you. ... Marty
