29 July 2007 - 03:28OSCon 2007: A Report

Symas Corporation proclaims O'Reilly's OSCon 2007 A Success! We had around sixty quality conversations, many educational but also many with real potential users and clients! Portland was a wonderful host city and we'll be back!

Hewlett Packard gave us space in their booth. Because they were a major sponsor, they got space right inside the entrance and the printer driver team that was sharing the booth with us graciously offered us the side facing the door! It was a fabulous spot.

OSCon is a fun show. There was one silly cross-dresser (who was trying really hard to be very silly and succeeded much to the amusement of all ... including himself). There was someone flying a remote controlled flying dragon fly. There was a guy with a monkey hand-puppet wandering around driving people a little crazy. The O'Reilly Watering Hole was open all day with popcorn and coffee but the break munchies were great too. One of the exhibitors was also serving popcorn ... next to the keg of Coor's Light that was pouring pretty much all day. Intel was giving out great munchies in their otherwise "Open Spaces" booth (empty-headed marketing types?).

We had a great time with the new messaging. We are "the LDAP guys."™. Everyone we talked to agreed. It was terrific fun.
