19 March 2007 - 23:42Good Article on "Why Open Source"

Infoworld ran a nice column on many of the compelling reasons to convert to Open Source Software. Symas thinks that many of these reasons will convince Enterprise IT shops to increasingly use Open Source Software and organizations that really know how to support it in the years to come.

We structured our business around the challenges of being a pure Open Source Software company. You have to factor the business model differences into your plan to do at all well. It helps that we're privately held with no pressure from large investors for a quick and large return on their investments. We can let the business grow with the growing awareness among large enterprises.

In the meantime, we are the global leaders in OpenLDAP, working with our colleagues around the world. And OpenLDAP 2.3 is the leading Directory Services technology (watch this space for 2.4, now in alpha).
