The nice people over at OpenID-LDAP have verified that OpenLDAP works just great as a database for its OpenID provider. OpenID is an increasingly popular authentication architecture for the Web and we are pleased to see this key provider running well against OpenLDAP. Thanks from Symas!

16 February 08 - 03:37Better than Free(?)
Kevin Kelly, Senior Maverick at Wired, wrote an article stating what is obvious to a lot of insiders but not at all obvious to the run of the mill businessman. He called it Better Than Free and among the things which create value he lists "Interpretation" under which he outlines the core value of integration and support services (the basis of the Symas business model). Quite a nice read.

13 February 08 - 16:14My Old Flame
(No, not really about a Valentine, sorry.) I stumbled over this entry in
Rich Megginson's livejournal today. (For those who aren't keeping track, Rich is the lead developer on the
Red Hat/
Fedora Directory Server.) I must admit it's a bit surprising, looking from a year later, that his anticipated flamewar didn't erupt. Especially for us, given how clear we at
Symas are on
OpenLDAP's overwhelming
superiority to FedoraDS. But it's always hard to draw conclusions when you're so far removed from the original context.
