Symas's Howard Chu voraciously reads peoples' claims about LDAP and X.500 products and recently stumbled on Sun's latest brag tape for their Directory Server Enterprise Edition (DSEE). I couldn't tell if the sound we heard was groaning, laughing, or the gnashing of teeth but when I read his private comments and the page, I had a similar reaction. Net net (for those who don't read past the "MORE" link): their few advantages are generally cosmetic and DSEE is falling further behind OpenLDAP as it addresses what were DSEE advantages with superior technology (just our humble opinion).
