This has been in the works over at OpenLDAP for a few weeks. Howard announced it on his Highland Sun blog last night. Howard is Chief Architect, VP R&D, and a Founder at Symas Corporation and Music Director at Highland Sun in his copious spare time.

LDAP's pervasiveness continues to increase. It's being used more and more, and talked about more and more. But frequently it's being talked about mainly because it's being misused, by people who don't know any better, and the use of LDAP becomes a problem instead of a solution. LDAP usage in Sendmail is a prime example of this problem.

This blog entry is the first reference to Connexitor™ Directory Servces (CDS) I've seen in the wild by a happy user. They're happy because we went out and worked with them (for money) and helped them set up CDS for their good-sized directory. They're having us teach LDAP University there, as well. (more)

Well, the Open Sources blog over on InfoWorld had two hits this morning. Thanks to Tom Maguire for pointing to the first that pointed to that last entry.

The EU commissioned a typical overheavy-weight EU report on Free/Libre/Open Source Software (FLOSS in their world). It's a must read. (more)
